Pan Jinchi's native place, birth and death years are both unknown. According to the "Brief History of Taoism on Wudang Mountain", Pan entered Taoism at Chaotian Palace on Wudang Mountain in the early Qing Dynasty. He is elegant and unrestrained in nature, passionate about traveling, and has left his footprints all over famous mountains and rivers. When it comes to his life, he was actually a Taoist priest of the 符箓 school. It is said that in the twelfth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1673 AD), he went to Sichuan to sell thunder, set up a thunder altar to pray for rain and punish evil monks.
