Ruan Pengzhi

Ruan Pengzhi is from Baihe County, Shaanxi Province. During the Republic of China period, he became a monk at Taizi Slope on Dangshan Mountain and was a descendant of the Penglai School (a branch of Zhang Sanfeng's line). Ruan followed his master Qianzhuang in his spiritual practice. In his spare time, he delved deeply into the study of medicine, especially excelling in acupuncture. Living in Taizi Slope for decades, he led a simple life and took pleasure in treating patients from all directions. He is kind-hearted and generous, and the place where he lives is often a guest residence for believers from all directions who come to seek his reputation. In 1984, the Wudang Taoist Association was established. Ruan Pengzhi, highly respected for his virtue, was elected as the president by the Taoist community. In 1987, the Taoist Association held a change of leadership. Due to his advanced age and inability to bear the hard work, he resigned as the president and retained the position of director. In 1993, Taoist Priest Ruan Pengzhi passed away at Taizi Slope at the age of over seventy.
