Luo Jiaopei is from Deng County, Henan Province. He read the Four Books and Five Classics at a young age and delved into medical skills. He was long in love with Taoism and later entered the Zixiao Palace of Wudang to become a disciple of Leng Hebin. He was the seventh-generation disciple of the Quanzhen Longmen Sect of Wudang. In 1931, He Long led the Red Third Army to enter the Zixiao Palace in Wudang. Luo Jiaopei not only carefully prepared medicine with fellow Taoists to treat the sick, but was also the main Taoist who served He Long. In 1953, He Long, in memory of his fellow Taoist from Wudang, sent a special telegram to the United Front Work Department of Hubei Province, inquiring about the situation of the Taoist. Special instructions should be given to show care for the politics and life of the old Taoist priests who made contributions during the Great Revolution. In the same year, Luo Jiaopei was invited to a symposium at the provincial government and was elected as a member of the provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Luo Jiaopei lived a simple life and was of high moral character. He often practiced medicine and prescribed medicine for the local people without charging a penny and enjoyed a high reputation among the people in the Wudang Mountain area. Unexpectedly, in 1967, the "Cultural Revolution" brought disaster to the palaces and temples on Wudang Mountain. Not only were many precious cultural relics damaged, but also many Taoists in the temples were criticized for the various charges imposed. Master Luo Jiaopei was forced to commit suicide during the movement due to the unbearable cruel torture. He was 67 years old at the time of his death.
