Lu Mingdao was born in a peasant family in a certain place in Shandong Province in the 17th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1891 AD). His biological mother passed away early. When he was a teenager, he was dissatisfied with the abuse from his stepmother and thus left home to join the army. Lu Mingdao once participated in the Xinhai Revolution. (In the 1980s, Lu Mingdao sang many songs from the Xinhai Revolution period with me. For this reason, Mr. Tang He, a music artist from the Cultural Department of the Beijing Military Region, heard my introduction and collected and sorted them out twice in Wudang.) He also served as a soldier under Zhang Zuolin of the Fengtian Army. In his twenties, having seen through the world, he left Dingwudang Mountain. He first lived in Chaoyang Cave and Zhoufu Nunnery for many years. After the 1960s, he moved into Zixiao Palace. The identity of the master is unknown. It is known that after becoming a monk, he learned Wudang Taihe Quan from his master. In his later years, he was often publicly displayed in the temple, but no one was allowed to take photos or videos. Not taught to disciples. Lu Mingdao leads a laid-back life and has the habit of smoking and drinking. But he was very strict about limits. He would drink twice a day, at noon and in the evening, with no more than two taels each time. It is said that he smokes to kill time, so he doesn't smoke in his stomach, suck in his mouth or spit out. He doesn't like to meditate, but he loves to be active. There is a touch of childlike innocence. In 1987, Lu Mingdao passed away peacefully at the Zixiao Palace at the age of 96.
