Liu Lishan, a native of Shandong Province, had his birth and death years unknown. According to the "Brief History of Taoism in Wudang", Liu Lishan once served as a major general and brigade commander under Feng Yuxiang's command in the Northwest Army. After the Battle between Chiang Kai-shek and Feng in 1924, he resolutely resigned from his official position and entered Taoism. Later, he served as the abbot of the Sanqing Hall in Chaoyang Cave at the foot of Wudang Mountain. He worked frugally to raise funds, restored the stone houses of the hall, and provided tea and water to passers-by. Those who are proficient in medical skills and often travel from village to village and household to household to treat people do not charge a penny. In 1944, I visited Xiaonanhai and never returned.
