Master Ben Xiang, whose native place and given name are unknown, was the 15th generation successor of the Longmen Sect on Wudang Mountain during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period. According to an article published in the Wudang magazine, Master Benxiang traveled abroad in the early years of the Republic of China (1911 AD) and stayed at Sun Yuhuan's home in Dengzhou Prefecture, Shandong Province (now Penglai County) for several years. Sun Yuhan was well-versed in Daoism. After getting acquainted with Benxiang, they hit it off and became close friends. He then adopted his eldest son to Benxiang as his foster son, and Benxiang named him Sun Qia. From then on, Sun Qia was carefully taught various martial arts of Wudang, including the Yi Quan, Jiugong Quan and Wudang Sword. Among them, there is the Wudang Small Brocade Silk 108 Grappling Hand, which is rarely seen in the world. Later, Sun Qia passed on this martial art to his eldest son, Sun Gai. The funeral arrangements of the Taoist priest Ben Xiang are unknown.
