He visited many famous mountains across the country. In the early years of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1662 AD), he practiced Taoism at Mingzhen Nunnery on Wudang Mountain (ten li west of Yuxu Palace, near Wulong Palace). Zhu Yehe often told his Taoist disciples throughout his life, "Where can one cultivate the Tao without a body? To achieve the Tao, one must abandon the body."
