Zhang Fuzhen, a native of Jianli, was a renowned Taoist priest on Wudang Mountain in the late Qing Dynasty. It is recorded that Zhang Su was well-versed in Dan Que and had a profound understanding of the classics of Wen Chang, Da Dong, Yan Fu, Yu Hang and so on. During the day, he roamed the smoky valley; at night, he slept on the stone 箧. He ate once every three days or once every five days, and his appearance was unpredictable. On the seventh day of the second lunar month in the Xinmao year of the Guangxu reign (1891 AD), he suddenly changed his clothes and tied his hat, summoned his disciples and gave them a warning. The instructions were completed and he passed away. His death was unknown.
