Yan Chenghui was a high-ranking Taoist priest in Wudang during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. According to the "Continued Compilation of the Taihe Annals", in the seventh year of the Tongzhi reign (1869 AD), two Wudang Taoists, Yan Chenghui and Zhu Xinchun, seeing that many palaces and temples were in disrepair, raised funds from all directions to build three rooms of the Ancestral Master Hall, three rooms of the Salvation Hall, three rooms of the Jade Emperor Hall, five rooms of the Practice Room, three rooms of the Sanfeng Hall, one room of the Spiritual Official Hall, and twenty-four rooms of Taoist rooms and corridors. The rest is unknown.
