Huang Zhichun, styled Zhenbai, had an unknown place of birth. In the year of Wu Shu of the Guangxu reign (1898 AD), he took refuge in Mount Taihe under the title of Xiaolian (a term used to refer to candidates who passed the provincial examination in the Ming and Qing Dynasties - editor). All the scriptures of the three religions and even the Tibetan Canon have been thoroughly read. One day in the year of Gengshu of the Xuantong reign (1910 AD), he sat upright in front of his couch and passed away with a smile. His death was unknown.
