Li Zhenyun is from Shandong. A Taoist priest of Wudang in the Ming Dynasty. According to the "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals" of the Qing Dynasty, Li Zhenyun entered Wudang and served the Three Pure Schools. The person was dissolute and untidy. He never combs his hair or washes his face for years, sits or lies down in a disorderly manner, behaves differently, and walks barefoot in the snow in winter. He once went around to beg for alms to build over three hundred miles of sacred paths in various parts of Wudang and also constructed the Yuxu Palace. Therefore, it enjoys a high reputation and prestige among the temples and monasteries in Wudang. Li Zhenyun passed away peacefully at the end of the Ming Dynasty. His crown and sword were hidden at the Zhizhen Bridge on the Huangsha River at the foot of Wudang Mountain (now submerged by the Danjiang Reservoir), and a pagoda was built as a tomb. The exact dates of birth and death are unknown.
