Zhang Daoxian was from Jingnan (now Jiangling, Hubei Province). A famous Taoist priest on Wudang Mountain in the Ming Dynasty. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals", Zhang Daoxian became a monk at the Xuanmiao Temple in Suzhou when he was young. In the 28th year of the Hongwu reign (1395 AD), he was appointed as a musician and dancer (i.e., a person specializing in the creation, performance and performance of Taoist ritual music). Later, he was ordered to go to the famous mountains in all directions to gather herbs. In the 15th year of Yongle (1417 AD), he was appointed as the director of the Yuxu Palace in Wudang. On the 30th day of the twelfth lunar month of the first year of Hongxi (1425 AD), he passed away and was buried in the southwest corner of our Taoist temple. His death was unknown.
