Yan Shanming, also known as Yan Shanming, styled himself Jingshan. He was a highly accomplished student of Qiu Xuanqing, a renowned Taoist priest in Wudang during the Ming Dynasty, and a disciple of Zhang Sanfeng. He was also a famous Taoist priest in Wudang. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals", Yan Shanming was born into a prominent official family in Henan Province. Born graceful and elegant, with a simple and unassuming appearance. Born with a pure and modest aspiration, he neither entered the officialdom nor married. Later, he became a monk at Wudang Mountain and studied under Qiu Xuanqing, deeply cultivating the Great Way and remaining humble. People only recognize his extraordinary demeanor, but they believe that he must have achieved great success. But he was in harmony with the common people and never showed any ill will. Since that was the case, the Taoists always held him in high regard unconsciously. In the 18th year of Yongle (1420 AD), Yan Shanming died without illness at Wudang. His death was unknown.
