Lei Puming, a native of Junzhou, was a renowned Taoist priest on Wudang Mountain during the Ming Dynasty. According to the "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals" of the Ming Dynasty, Lei Puming visited Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi Province in his early years and learned the rain-praying method of the Celestial Master Dao. After entering Wudang, he was ordered to transport the sacred image of Emperor Xuan from the capital to the Yuxu Palace on Wudang Mountain (Note: This was in the fourth year of the Chenghua reign, that is, 1473 AD). When the boat reached the rocky beach, the water was too shallow to move forward. That night, the talisman was thrown into the water. In an instant, a thunderstorm broke out and the river rose sharply. The boat moved forward again. Lei Puming was also good at the method of resisting epidemics. Once, the horse keeper of the imperial court contracted a plague. He ordered Lei Puming to treat him and he recovered immediately. When the Wudang Palace was completed, Lei Puming was appointed as the director of the Jingle Palace in Wudang and later promoted to the position of Deputy Minister. His birth and death dates are unknown.
