Shan Dao 'an, a native of Junzhou, was a Taoist priest of Wudang during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. According to the "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals" of the Qing Dynasty, Shan became a monk at the Nanyan Palace in Wudang at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, and studied Taoism under the tutelage of Immortal Zhang Shouqing, devoting himself with great effort. After Zhang Shouqing's death, he hid alone on the Diezi Peak of Wudang, isolating himself from all affairs, recuperating and subduing his spirit, maintaining his age. In the early years of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1398 AD), Shan Dao 'an traveled north to Mount Hua and west to visit the famous mountains in Zhongnan. Later, in the Chongyang Wanshou Palace, he summoned his disciples to his knees and informed them of the secrets of cultivation one by one. Then, he resided in the round block to practice the Great Elixir and passed away sitting upright. His disciples Li Suxi (also known as Li Suxi, who later became a renowned Taoist in Wudang during the Ming Dynasty) and others had his crown hidden in the Immortal Tomb of Wuhua. The exact dates of birth and death are unknown.
