Liu Guquan, a native of Henan Province, was a renowned Taoist priest on Wudang Mountain during the Ming Dynasty. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals", Liu Guquan, along with Yang Shancheng, Lu Qiuyun and Qiu Xuanqing, were all direct disciples of Zhang Sanfeng. In his early years, he entered Wudang (Note: during the early days of the Hongwu reign when Zhang Sanfeng was on the martial arts stage for the second time) and began to practice the Nine Returns and Seven Returns of the Great Elixir under Master Sanfeng. He overcame numerous difficulties and dangers in the cultivation process such as "stone, fire, electricity and light", and finally achieved enlightenment. Once, together with fellow Daoist friends, he followed his master to expand the incense offerings in Wudang. Sanfeng was destined to reside in Zixiao. Later, he cohabited with his Taoist friend Yang Shancheng and practiced in the Baozhu Rock Cave at the foot of the Baozhu Peak in front of the Zixiao Palace. One day later, he said to Yang Shancheng, "This life has come to a sufficient extent. It would be better to let go and return here today." Having finished speaking, he sat upright and passed away. The dates of his birth and death are unknown.
