Wang Dangyang was a Taoist priest in Wudang during the Yuan Dynasty. According to the Qing Dynasty's "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals", Wang was from Tongrui (the area east of Wuhu City, Anhui Province and west of Gaochun County, Jiangsu Province). In the early Yuan Dynasty, he once taught magical arts to Yiren and later went to Wudang to cultivate. He eventually returned to Pingdingshan, Henan Province, and established the Shengping Taoist Temple to practice there. Throughout his life, he wrote the miraculous secrets of the elixir classic. He passed away while sitting upright in his nineties. The years of birth and death are unknown. Note: Magic arts belong to the category of alchemists' deceptive techniques and invisibility techniques. Since ancient times, they have not been included in the orthodox Daoist tradition. It can be known that before Wang Dangyang met a strange person, what he learned did not belong to the right path. Later, when he traveled to Wudang to practice, it seemed that he first grasped the essence of the elixir path and thus achieved the fruit of the Dao.
