Ji Zhitong was a Taoist priest in Wudang during the Southern Song Dynasty. The "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals" records that he was from Shaoyang (now Shaoyang City in central Hunan Province). Later, he entered the Wudang Taoist Sect and practiced fasting for over ten years, only consuming Polygonatum odoratum and Atractylodes. His eyes are clear and bright, and he walks with great speed. In the year of Jiazi of Jingding (1264 AD), one day he summoned his disciples and told them to take care of Taoism. After saying that, he sat upright and passed away.
