How can acquired breathing progress towards fetal breathing?

Teacher Kong De: Hello! I am a person who aspires to cultivate the Tao. Your "Commentary on the Sayings of Le Yu Tang" is like a ray of light clearing the clouds for me, dispelling many of my previous doubts in practical practice. After another one or two months of comparative practice, when observing the inner reflection, I was able to refine the Yang energy of the Mud Ball Palace, and now a dazzling white light emerged. The entire body reappeared as a white light. However, in the state of sitting in meditation without any thought or worry, one cannot advance towards the fetal breath and then find the essence of the mysterious female. Therefore, I carefully studied and understood the first part of the book "Annotations on the Records of the Leyu Hall". Now, I would like to verify my understanding of the part about "breathing" with Teacher Kong. I think acquired breathing is the greatest obstacle to innate breathing. Thoughts can be without thinking or worrying, but breathing cannot truly stop it for a moment. So, I am trying to find a very effective method in the process of advancing from postnatal breathing to fetal breathing. This is how I did it. During the process of advancing from external breathing to fetal breathing, I added the step of internal breathing. The main method is to transfer the movement of external breathing to the five internal organs, transform the movement generated during breathing into the breathing movement of the five internal organs, and at the same time strengthen and invigorate the five elements qi of the five internal organs, laying a solid foundation for the generation of the innate true qi. I gave it a try and was surprisingly able to effectively forget the idea of the existence of external breathing. During the movement of the five internal organs' breathing, I experienced intestinal rumbling and the white light of the Niwan Palace became even more intense. Over time, it remains unknown whether true fetal breathing will occur. I would be very grateful if Teacher Kong De could offer me some guidance. Teacher Kong De's response: The response to the question is as follows: First, your view that "acquired breathing is the greatest obstacle to innate breathing" seems inappropriate or incorrect (also, the "innate" you mentioned should be "innate fetal breathing"). In fact, it should only be said that as long as acquired breathing (acquired oral and nasal breathing) exists, it is very difficult, or even impossible, to obtain innate fetal breath. But this cannot be regarded as an "obstacle". To obtain the innate fetal breath, one can only start from the postnatal breathing, and then return to the innate state in the future. There is no other wonderful method. Therefore, it should be said that "regulating postnatal breathing is an inevitable path towards innate fetal breathing", and there is no way to achieve the good thing of fetal breathing without regulating through the mouth and nose. Second, the method you have adopted yourself is actually a kind of accidental regulation of breathing through the mouth and nose, which conforms to the previous principle of "concentrating the mind and regulating the breath, and regulating the breath and concentrating the mind". On the one hand, it has achieved the goal of "not listening to the ears but to the heart" regarding postnatal breathing, and on the other hand, it has also achieved the interdependence of the heart and breath. Therefore, this initial effect is extremely good. However, this effect is by no means, as you claim, "transferring the movement of external breathing to the five internal organs and transforming the movement generated during breathing into the breathing movement of the five internal organs." Instead, it is the initial sign that the acquired breathing, under the state of introspective observation, has shifted from the original tendency towards external transportation and consumption to internal transportation and storage, and has an attraction with the innate fetal breath. A practitioner can only focus their breathing with their mind on the internal environment of the body and transform the five internal organs according to the inherent laws of qi circulation, but cannot direct the movement of external breathing to the five internal organs. This feeling of yours is merely an illusion under intentional action. The mistake lies in that it is not the subjective command of your mind that "shifts the movement of external breathing to the five internal organs", but rather the function of mental internal protection that strengthens the internal movement of external breathing. While comprehensively transforming the human body, you feel the five internal organs being invigorated. If you don't believe it, you can do an experiment. If you transfer this thought to other parts of your body, you will also feel the inner sensations in those parts. Thirdly, this method of internalizing the mind (spirit) can be adopted in the initial stage of practicing martial arts. However, once the breathing becomes very natural and smooth in the later stage, one should shift the mind to the lower dantian, gently and lightly, neither too much nor too little, neither forgetting nor assisting. Over time, the true fetal breath will naturally come. I reply as above. I hope to further practice and verify.
