The ancient rain-praying couplet of the Wudang Mountain Temple

Fast and burn incense, praying for the will of heaven to restore one's fortune. With sincerity and earnestness, I pray for the early rain of sweet dew. Sincerely recite all the sutras and pray for the rain and blessings. With utmost respect and reverence, we practice the vegetarian ritual to repay the great kindness. The benevolent clouds spread for three thousand miles. The rain of the Dharma spreads evenly across the twelve continents. Thunderstorms strike with might, startling ministers to return to loyalty and filial piety. The clouds and rain bestow virtue, nourishing all things and reviving the spring.
