Mr. Yang, I don't know his surname. According to the late Taoist master Wang Yonggan of Zixiao Palace, Master Yang was a Taoist who secluded himself in the Prince's Cave at the back of Zixiao Palace before the 1950s. At that time, he had been cultivating in the Prince Cave for decades. Regardless of the season, he only wore single-layer clothes and shorts and never changed his clothes. There was nothing else in the place of cultivation except for a pile of dry money leaves for sitting on. Yang Ye only went to the main hall of Zixiao Palace one day a month to burn a few sticks of incense and greet the Taoist friends in the palace a few times, and then returned to the cave for quiet cultivation. At that time, Wang Yonggan would go to the cave every day to bring a bowl of porridge to Lord Yang. After delivering it, he would not say a word, put down the rice bowl, take an empty bowl placed beside it and bring it back to the palace. This went on for years. In the late 1950s, all the Taoists in the temple were sent to work in the countryside. As Yang Ye lost the conditions for cultivation, he left the mountains and wandered around. It is said that later, Mr. Yang lived in a remote Taoist temple somewhere in Nanyang, Henan Province, and continued his cultivation. Then came the period of the "Cultural Revolution", during which the local rebels regarded him as a "monster" and brought him to the mass assembly for criticism. As there was no public outrage, after the brief criticism, he was put in the cattle pen so that he could be criticized again in the future. However, when the rebel came to the cowshed again the next day to arrest him, he was sitting on the ground at the cowshed with his eyes closed, and the door of the cowshed was still locked. The rebels, not knowing what to do against him, put him back in the cattle pen again, fearing that he might escape. But when he came to open the cowshed again, he was seen sitting there once more. It's always like this over and over again. People all found it strange and thought he was a weirdo. Anyway, he won't run away and won't do anything bad. The rebel was so annoyed that I didn't bother with him. In this way, Lord Yang returned to the temple and continued his cultivation. What happened afterwards is unknown.
