These two wooden engraving plates for printing door god paintings are the physical items that the temple hand-printed for its business operations. In China, the custom of pasting door god paintings has a long history. It is said that when humans enter their homes, there is a custom of holding peach branches and hanging peach people. In ancient sacrificial rituals, the gate of Sacrifice was listed as one of the five sacrificial rites. The name "door god" emerged in the Han Dynasty. Since then, the types have increased. Mythological figures, warriors from the imperial court, Taoist immortals, and so on can all appear as door gods, and they vary depending on the time and place. Wudang Mountain was the national center of Taoist activities during the Ming Dynasty.
