Key points to note for the elderly when doing morning exercises in winter

#Health-preserving ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

From the Beginning of Winter to the Beginning of Spring, it is the coldest season of the year. The Yin energy grows stronger day by day and reaches its peak, while the Yang energy is slightly extreme and then re-emerges. Therefore, in winter, all activities should conform to nature, and morning exercises for the elderly are no exception. Elderly people who are used to morning exercises still get up very early even in the cold winter. However, it should be noted that winter is different from other seasons. Exercise time - The air cleanliness in the early winter morning is very poor, especially before 8 a.m. Therefore, the best time for exercise should be around 10 a.m. Exercise place - It is not advisable to do fitness exercises in a courtyard filled with coal smoke and polluted air. One should choose a sunny and sheltered place for exercise (it is not advisable to exercise outdoors when there is fog). If one opts for exercise indoors, pay attention to ventilation to keep the indoor air fresh. Sports activities - According to the elderly person's own condition, choose sports activities that suit them, such as walking, jogging, cycling, practicing Tai Chi, etc. It should be noted that before exercising, one must do warm-up activities such as stretching, bending over and squatting first; otherwise, it is easy to cause sprains, bumps and fractures. Other matters - Due to the relatively weak constitution and poor body temperature regulation ability of the elderly, they may catch a cold if they wear bulky clothes and sweat a lot during exercise. Therefore, they should take off or remove their clothes as appropriate as their activities increase. The intensity of exercise should be such that you feel comfortable with it. Excessive exercise can lead to bone damage. Also, don't take a hot bath immediately after exercising. Because exercise causes the blood vessels in the muscles to dilate and blood flow to increase, while the blood vessels in the internal organs contract accordingly to maintain the blood volume in the muscles, taking a hot bath at this time will continue to increase the blood flow in the skin and muscles, while the blood volume in the internal organs, especially the brain, will decrease, making it easy to suffer from cerebral ischemia and faint. Do not exercise while ill - If angina pectoris occurs during winter exercise, stop exercising immediately. Do not be nervous. You can sit or lie down for a while to rest. If the pain does not subside, you can take one tablet of nitroglycerin under your tongue to relieve the pain. If you have been experiencing frequent coughing, excessive phlegm, sore throat, nasal congestion, dry throat, runny nose, fever or chest tightness recently (which are signs of asthma), do not engage in vigorous outdoor physical exercise. Instead, you can only do light activities such as walking or doing exercises. Exercises that the elderly should not do during morning exercises - They should not do headstands. It is not advisable to keep the head down or lean back for a long time. It is not advisable to lean forward or bend over suddenly. It is not advisable to do large movements such as somersaults and splits. It is not advisable to hold your breath or perform rapid and repeated squatting and standing movements. It is not advisable to run fast, etc.
