(4) The current situation of Taoist rituals

The current Taoist ritual activities mainly fall into the following three categories: (1) Quanzhen Yan Taoist Temples Quanzhen School Taoist temples: such as Baiyun Taoist Temple in Beijing, Taqing Palace in Laoshan, Qingdao, Changchun Taoist Temple in Wuhan, etc. The Quanzhen School's ritual activities include chanting, welcoming the deceased, celebrating, wishing for longevity, praying for blessings, prolonging life, eliminating disasters, offering to heaven, gathering and summoning, scattering flowers, and offering food. The sutras and confessions include the Morning and Evening Services Sutra, the Three Officials and the Big Dipper Sutra, the True Martial Sutra, the Sutra of Rebirth, the Supreme Jade Emperor's Original Practice Collection Sutra, the Supreme Three Yuan Sin Elimination Water Confession Sutra, the Sa Zu's Iron Pot Offering of Food, the Quanzhen Yanjiao Reception and Speech Section, the Jade Emperor's Precious Confession Sutra, and so on. (2) Zhengyi Taoist Temples: Such as Baiyun Taoist Temple in Shanghai, Xuanmiao Taoist Temple in Suzhou, and Tianshi Mansion on Longhu Mountain, etc. The Zhengyi School's sacrificial ceremony includes rituals such as reporting the official duties, consecration, fulfilling vows, celebrating birthdays, presenting memorials, offering sacrifices to the heavens, refining the Dharma, distributing the offerings, the death battle, opening the ceremony, inviting the saints, the Fire Department's court, welcoming the procession, and extending the life to the death battle. The sutras and repentance include morning and evening services, the Jade Emperor Repentance, the Thunder Ancestor Repentance, the True Martial Repentance, the Three Officials Repentance, the Battle of Sutras and Battles Repentance, the Heaven Repentance, the Green Mystery Repentance, the Nine Netherworld Repentance, and so on. The Zhengyipai Taoist Temple attaches great importance to the ritual of the Zhengyipai Taoist Temple, as this is their main source of income. Therefore, the Zhengyipai Taoist Temple's ritual activities are very wonderful and the content is also very rich. (3) Scattered Taoists Scattered Taoists refer to Taoists who are scattered among the common people and do not live in temples, mostly belonging to the Zhengyi school. Their characteristic is that they do not live in temples or shrines, or they live in families and pass down their knowledge from generation to generation. Or, on an individual basis, widely recruit disciples; Whenever there is an opportunity, they will hold sacrificial ceremonies at the homes of the masses. It is mainly distributed in the suburbs of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei and other places. Most of the scattered Taoists have inherited the teachings of the Dragon and Tiger Mountain, passed down from family to family, and have lived together for generations. Therefore, the sutras and repentance recited are also the ones commonly used in Taoist temples, mainly including: the Sutra of the Three Officials and the Big Dipper, the Sutra of the Spiritual Officials, the Sutra of the Jade Emperor's Heart Seal, the Jade Emperor Repentance, the Great Repentance of the Supreme Three Yuan, the Kitchen God Repentance, and so on.
