Hu Daoxuan, a native of Poyang (now the area around Dongyan in Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province), was a Taoist priest of the Shenxiao Sect in Wudang during the Yuan Dynasty. According to the "Brief History of Taoism in Wudang", which quotes from the "Daoyuan Xuegu" Volume 25 of "Linghui Chongxu Tongmiao Zhenwang Shizhen" by Yu Ji of the Yuan Dynasty, Hu Daoxuan entered Taoism in his twenties and traveled freely between Guanshan, Jingxiang, Jianghan, Huaihai, and Fujian and Zhejiang. During this period, he met an extraordinary person at the Tianzhu Peak on the summit of Wudang Mountain and taught him the way of cultivation. Later, he visited many famous mountains and caves. And he traveled with a Taoist prodigy named Jin Peng Tou, and the two got along very well. In the years of Yuan Yi Si (1329 AD) and Geng Wu (1330 AD), a severe drought hit, and Hu Daoxuan's prayers for rain were repeatedly answered. Hu Bing was skilled in the methods of impeding and punishing ghosts and demons. His whereabouts are unknown. The Shenxiao School of Taoism was founded by Wang Wenqing (1093-1153 AD) at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, and it is mainly known for its talismans. This school of thought refers to its talisman as passed down by one of the sons of the Primordial Heavenly King, the Supreme Deity Xiaoyu Qingzhen King (also known as the Elder Emperor of the South Pole and the Emperor of the Fusangri Palace, who is the Chief of Ten Thousand Thunder). However, after Wang Wenqing, his sects became diverse. Wang Wenqing's direct disciples were Gao Ziyu. Gao passed on his knowledge to Xu Ciju, Xu to Nie Tianxi, Nie to Tan Wuzhen, Tan to Luo Xuzhou, and Luo to Hu Daoxuan. From this perspective, the strange person that Hu Daoxuan met in Wudang was the Luo Xu Boat.
