The Jade Emperor is the chief deity among the deities revered in Taoism. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, there were sayings such as "Huangtian", "Haotian" and "Tian Di". During the Southern Dynasties, among the Taoist deities arranged by Tao Hongjing, his name was ranked 11th and 19th on the right side of the Sanyuan Palace. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the belief in the "Jade Emperor" was widely popular. Taoism holds that the Jade Emperor governs the three realms, the ten directions, the four Lives and the six paths. Among Taoist deities, although his status is not as high as that of the "Three Pure Ones", in the beliefs of the common people, the Jade Emperor is the highest deity worshipped. Its appearance is that it is dressed in the Nine-chapter ritual robe, wears a beaded tiara on its head and holds a jade tablet in its hands.
