The Imperial Scripture Hall, also known as the Chanting Hall, is a place where Taoist priests living in the temple chant sutras and worship deities. On Wudang Mountain, every morning when the bell rings and evening when the drum beats, Taoists gather here to perform the "morning altar" and "evening altar" rituals. They do this every day without interruption. The large temples and monasteries on Wudang Mountain all have dedicated imperial scripture halls. These places are clean, serene and sacred, and ordinary people are not allowed to enter casually. This Imperial Scripture Hall originated in the Ming Dynasty and was renovated several times during the Qing Dynasty. It still retains many architectural techniques and methods from the Ming and Qing dynasties and holds historical and research value.
