Entering the mountain gate of Fuzhen Temple, the "Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall" greeps into your face. On the short 71-meter-long footpath, it starts from the mountain slope and extends towards the building with a wall enclosing the path. The conception, layout and intention are all very ingenious. The smooth arc-shaped walls, like undulating waves, are of extraordinary momentum. The tall and curved red walls give people a sense of "distant and profound", which undoubtedly is a test of "honesty" for those devout pilgrims who have just arrived. The Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall is 1.5 meters thick and 2.5 meters high. It is round and flat, with smooth and pleasing arcs. With a green glazed tile roof, it resembles two giant dragons coiling and soaring. No matter from which Angle it is appreciated, it gives people a sense of beauty and reflects the grandeur and luxury of royal architecture. Regarding the origin of the name of the Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall, some scholars believe that Taoism regards "nine" as a synonym for the "pure Yang number", and uses nine wherever it belongs to the source of heaven and earth. Such as the Nine Heavens, Nine Palaces, Nine Provinces, Nine Orifices, etc. In the "Sutra of the Supreme Spiritual Treasure's Karmic Retribution and Causes", it is stated that those who offer Taoist robes, scriptures, statues, buildings, ritual implements, lamps and candles, bells and chimes, vegetarian food, and incense and watches to Taoist temples can all receive the protection of the deities, which are called the "Nine kinds of merits". It should be said that the Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall is also a kind of architecture that embodies Taoist thought.
