(1) The two-point punch and eight-point kick leg technique is a relatively complete component of the Jeet Kune Do system. Bruce Lee regarded leg techniques as the most effective offensive and defensive weapons, and their application rate was as high as 80%, which is also the most distinctive feature of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee also believed that among the limbs of the human body, leg strength is stronger than that of the hands. Therefore, Jeet Kune Do attaches great importance to leg techniques. Jeet Kune Do is renowned worldwide for its rich, diverse, vigorous and sharp leg techniques and is recognized by the world martial arts community as the "king of Kings" among the world's leg fighting schools. Jeet Kune Do is thus known as an "art of kicking" (2) Speed First Jeet Kune Do is renowned worldwide for its rapid, fierce, resolute and whirlwind fast attacks. "Speed" refers to the way to win in combat. Only by being fast can one catch the enemy off guard and take them by surprise. Speed is one of the three key elements of combat. The three key elements of Jeet Kune Do are: speed, power and accuracy. In Jeet Kune Do, there are sayings such as "speed is the only way to break through" and "quick, short and fast". The term "quick, short and fast" means that the force should be applied in a short, crisp and rapid manner, with the upper and lower limbs integrated. The movements should be vigorous, clean and crisp. At the moment of force application, the rapid force of the trunk (especially the waist) and limbs should be used to knock the opponent out. Deliver a lightning-fast blow to the opponent, catching them off guard. Speed is a complex phenomenon, which involves the time for recognition and the time for reaction. Usually, the key does not lie in how fast the movement is, but in reaching the goal as soon as possible. This is something that boxers should pay attention to. Based on the rapid, short and fast actual combat situations, speed can be classified into five major categories: 1. Visual speed, 2. Reaction speed, 3. The speed of launching moves, 4. Action speed, and 5. Transformation speed. The elements to increase speed: 1. Do warm-up exercises to reduce muscle obstruction, increase elasticity and flexibility, and adjust various systems of the human body to adapt to a higher degree of physiological movement state. 2. Appropriate contraction of the muscles. 3. Concentration of spirit. 4. Develop a rapid and acute visual habit, that is, a quick response. 5. Rich imagination and insight. The coordination, maneuverability and flexibility of movements can directly or indirectly increase speed. (3) Power Generation in Jeet Kune Do In Jeet Kune Do, the force of the strike is not entirely dependent on physical strength. Therefore, many boxers with underdeveloped muscles can concentrate their full strength on an instant burst and deliver a powerful blow. On the contrary, some boxers with very developed muscles cannot defeat their opponents. The reason behind this is that strength does not merely arise from the contractility of muscles, but depends on explosive power! That is, the speed of the movements of the hands and legs. Therefore, even Bruce Lee, who weighed only over 50 kilograms, was able to defeat opponents who were two or three times his weight. The secret lies in his ability to concentrate his strength on one point and exert it in an instant. In Jeet Kune Do, there are various ways to exert force, but in essence, there are only two: long force and short force. Long force and short force are distinguished by the duration and effect of the force acting on the opponent's body. 1. Short force. Short force is a rapid elastic force, as if a compressed spring suddenly pops out. Due to the short time before and after its release and the high speed. Therefore, it will produce an extremely strong compressive force and a nerve-shaking effect, capable of penetrating inside and out, causing the opponent to panic and creating conditions for subsequent powerful attacks. So in actual combat, Bruce Lee advocated the use of short force, and the specific manifestation of short force in combat is explosive power. 2. Long strength. In layman's terms, it refers to the overall force. It is mainly the power of the waist, legs, hips and shoulders, and is connected in a sequential manner, exerting force from bottom to top or from top to bottom. Because it takes a long time to exert force and the weight is very heavy, it is called long force. (4) Invincible as if having an enemy, having an enemy as if invincible, invincible as if having an enemy means that when practicing, one should always create an imaginary enemy fighting right in front of oneself. At this point, you will fully apply the techniques you have mastered to thoroughly understand the principles of boxing. Being invincible when facing an enemy does not mean underestimating them. This is a strategic principle in Jeet Kune Do when dealing with enemies. To defeat an opponent, one must look down upon him strategically and be superior to him psychologically. (5) Seizing the Right Moment In combat, speed and a good grasp of time complement each other. Accurately judging and seizing the right moment to attack is the key to victory. The timing of Jeet Kune Do is multi-faceted: 1. When the fighter subconsciously decides to attack, if they are fully concentrated, it is the best time to carry out a perceptive attack. If the movement is decisive and swift, it can increase the possibility of a successful attack. When the opponent is about to attack, our side should resolutely deliver a fatal blow or a series of attacks. 3. When the opponent is in the process of making a move, take the opportunity to deliver a fatal blow. 4. When the opponent's attack fails, one should take the opportunity to counterattack. The opponent reaps and we attack. 5. When the opponent is unprepared or lacks concentration and physical strength, if you take the opportunity to launch a fierce attack, the success rate will be quite high. (6) The waist is the dominant part, and the waist and the horse are integrated. The waist is the part of the human trunk with the largest range of motion. It is the hub that connects the upper and lower limbs, and it controls the movement and changes of the whole body as well as pushes the power to all parts of the body. If the strength of the waist is used properly, it helps maintain the balance of the whole body and sufficient force operation. In Jeet Kune Do, the movement of the limbs is often driven by the lifting, turning, bending and stretching of the waist. Every punch and every leg must be connected with the waist, so that the force starts from the feet, is collected from the waist, then transmitted to the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, and finally lands on the hands and feet. For example: foot - waist - shoulder - elbow - hand; Foot - hip - knee - foot. The coordination and unity of all parts of the body centered on the waist are needed to achieve the best effect of force application. Therefore, "If you want to punch and kick, you must first twist your waist and hips." (7) Seeking balance in Movement. Balance means that the human body remains relatively still in space. Bruce Lee said that balance ability is the ability to control the position of the body's center of gravity at any time. He also demanded that when kicking, he should aim at any height and be able to coordinate with various techniques, footwork and body movements. Effective balance means being able to control the body at any position, that is, to control the center of gravity of the body. Even when the body is tilted or in an unstable state and loses balance, one can quickly master and recover. To control the center of gravity of the body during exercise, one should use small steps and sliding steps while moving, rather than jumping steps or alternating steps. One should constantly change the center of gravity of the body according to the movements of the opponent and oneself. When punching or kicking, do not make excessive movements, as that will affect your body balance. Maintaining balance while constantly changing the center of gravity of the body is indeed a difficult but essential technique to master. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate correct balance ability and posture during regular training. (8) Good sense of distance In reality, both dexterous leg techniques and accurate punches involve the correct judgment of distance. The position of the attack target should not only be the position of the opponent in front of you, but also take into account the possible position of the opponent after dodging. Therefore, at the moment before an attack, it is necessary to accurately judge the distance between the enemy and oneself. When two skilled boxers met, both were striving to gain an advantageous position, and the distance between them was constantly changing. Maintaining a favorable position not only depends on one's speed and agility in movement, but also on the speed and agility of movement. There are three different distances in Jeet Kune Do. Generally speaking, when one is unsure of the opponent's level, a long-range approach should be adopted to test their proficiency. Moreover, when defending, one should also adopt a long-range approach to prevent the opponent from getting too close. If the distance is too close, the opponent will often be in a passive position during defense. After getting a clear understanding of the opponent's strength and weakness, you can approach and reach a medium distance. At this distance, both sides are within the range of attack. Whoever can grasp the time well will take the initiative. In close combat, the player who strikes first usually has the upper hand. They use their own feet tightly against the opponent's front feet to prevent them from moving and kicking to attack, and then strike the opponent with a storm of punches. Bruce Lee's signature move, "Hook Pass", was a practical technique specifically designed to deal with close combat.
