It is known that the Jade Emperor is the chief deity among the revered deities in Taoism, holding the supreme position and overseeing the duties of the three realms, the ten directions, and the four lives. The supreme deity who can control the changes of nature, the fortune and misfortune of the human world, and the destiny of human life. Originating from the ancient worship of the "Heavenly Emperor", when the Taoist priest Tao Hongjing of the Southern Dynasties arranged the Taoist deities, he ranked 11th and 19th. From the Tang and Song Dynasties onward, the Jade Emperor gradually rose to the supreme position. Wudang Mountain in the Ming Dynasty was a true martial arts dojo. All the main halls of the palaces and temples are dedicated to the Great Emperor Zhenwu. Other deities, including the supreme deity and the Heavenly Emperor, can only be enshrined in the side halls and smaller temples. It reflects the characteristics of worshipping deities of Taoism on Wudang Mountain.
