The copper Hall of the Fortune Hall in Taihe Palace

The group of deities enshrined in the ancient bronze hall is a typical arrangement of the statues in various palaces and temples on Wudang Mountain. The Great Emperor Zhenwu is in the center, and the others are the main members of the Zhenwu Deities Group. The worship of true martial arts had formed a relatively complete system in the Song Dynasty. True martial arts classics emerged and became popular, systematically recording the origin, cultivation, manifestation, and duties of True martial arts, standardizing and sanctifying their history. The image of the Heavenly Lord that appears in this group of statues is particularly eye-catching. Among the True Martial Divine Group, there are thirty-six Celestial Emperors. Legend has it that after True Martial achieved enlightenment and ascended to heaven, the Primordial Heavenly Lord ordered him to descend to the mortal world to subdue demons. With his extraordinary courage, Zhenwu subdued 36 kinds of demons. As they were all celestial generals who had descended to the mortal world to cause trouble, after subduing them, the Jade Emperor ordered them to serve under Zhenwu and become the 36 Celestial Emperors, standing by his side and at his disposal.
