The "Southern History: Seclusion" states: "A hermit must cultivate a pure and upright character and engage in literary and artistic pursuits." The I Ching says, "When heaven and earth are closed, the virtuous man hides away." At this point, those wise men who are renowned yet indifferent can be called "hermits".

The vanished wooden beam between the crevices, the receding figure, and the growing grass...
