The Golden flower tree in Chongxu Nunnery

The ancient cypress tree in front of Chongxu Nunnery is said to have been planted by Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals. This tree is also called the "Golden Flower Tree" by people. Legend has it that in ancient times, a crazy Taoist sprinkled a bowl of rice on the tree, which turned into golden flowers. Since then, every summer, the trees have been covered with golden flowers, hence the name "Golden Flower Tree", which has become a major scenic spot on Wudang Mountain. Under the golden flower tree lies an ancient well, which is said to have been dug by Emperor Shun himself and is thus called "Shun Well". But this legend is hard to verify. It is very likely that people made it up by adding the mystery and ancient charm of Chongxu Nunnery.
