During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, the state "built the Forbidden City in the north and the Wudang Mountain in the south", and constructed a grand imperial temple on Wudang Mountain. The Yuxu Palace is the largest palace in the entire ancient architectural complex of Wudang Mountain.

What we are seeing now are some of the existing buildings in the Zijin City of the Yuxu Palace. The palace walls are tall and heavy, just like the moon moon encircling the immortal gate. The three-arched palace gate is supported by a huge elaborately carved Sumeru stone base with jade flowers. The eight-shaped walls on both wings are inlaid with glass jade flower patterns, creating a magnificent and sumptuous scene with a blend of vermilion and green.

In those days, the Yuxu Palace was the main base for managing the entire Wudang Mountain. The emperor who lived here selected the Wudang Governor to be of the sixth rank. The area to the left of the palace gate is called the Five Hundred Military Training Ground. In the Ming Dynasty, military power was an extremely sensitive matter. Anyone who raised troops without permission would be beheaded. Wudang Mountain, as a royal temple, was specially permitted by the emperor to keep five hundred troops to ensure the safety of each temple. Every spring and autumn, five hundred soldiers gather here to practice martial arts and undergo inspection. This is unique among all the monasteries across the country, which shows the grandeur of Wudang Mountain in those days.
