Chongxu Nunnery Taoist Temple

#Yuxu ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

The temple buildings of Chongxu Nunnery are now in a dilapidated state, with only forty-five rooms remaining, including the Ancestral Master Hall, the Imperial Scripture Hall, guest rooms and side rooms. According to records, Chongxu Nunnery originally had hundreds of copper statues of deities and ritual implements. In 1938, when the Japanese army invaded the Central Plains, all the copper items here were transported to the Chongqing Arsenal for smelting and then made into guns and cannons. Historically, Chongxu Nunnery was also converted into an "orphanage", a "school", a warehouse, etc. Every time he changed his use, the interior of Chongxu Nunnery was renovated. Eventually, this ancient nunnery took on its current appearance. Over the years, the cultural relics department of Wudang Mountain has carried out several minor repairs such as roof support and reinforcement on Chongxu Nunnery. In the "Overall Plan for Wudang Mountain", a "scenic area plan" for Chongxu Nunnery has been formulated. Soon, a simple and complete Chongxu Nunnery that has restored its historical appearance will be presented to the people.
