According to the mountain Chronicles of the Ming Dynasty, Sun Simiao, the Medicine King, was enshrined in Lingxu Rock. Sun Simiao, a renowned physician of the Tang Dynasty, was from Huayuan, Jingzhao - now Yao County, Shaanxi Province. He was well-versed in the theories of Laozi and Zhuangzi, and was particularly proficient in medicine as well as the arts of Yin and Yang, foot massage, and divination. He made a living by writing about treating diseases and was later highly regarded as the "King of Medicine". The "Taihe Mountain Annals" records such a story about Sun Simiao: It is said that when Sun Simiao was seven years old, he could recite a thousand words a day and was fond of discussing the teachings of Laozi and Zhuangzi when he was older. Hiding in Taibai Mountain to study Taoism, seeking the art of saving the world, having a thorough understanding of astronomy and delving deeply into medicine. One day, he saw a shepherd boy injure a little snake. He quickly took off his clothes, wrapped the snake around it, and carefully prepared it. When it recovered, he released it back into the mountains and fields. Not long after, a young man in white came to invite Sun Simiao to his home as a guest. Only after arriving did Sun Simiao realize that he had reached the Water House. The young man in white was the injured little snake he had saved. The Dragon King took out the three thousand strange prescriptions from the Dragon Palace and said, "They can help you save the world and help people." Sun Simiao readily accepted the prescriptions. Later, it was included in his "Thousand Gold Prescriptions" and passed down to future generations.
