Laozi said: "If you look down upon the world, your spirit will not be burdened; if you pay close attention to all things, your mind will not be confused; if you balance life and death, your will will not be intimidated; if you adapt to changes, your mind will not be dazzled." The most accomplished person leans on an unyielding pillar, walks an unrelated path, endures an inexhaustible abode, and learns from an immortal teacher. They can achieve success in everything they go and fail to understand everything they do. They bend and stretch, bend and bend, embrace fate without confusion and remain flexible. Whether it is fortune or misfortune, gain or loss, they are not enough to worry their heart. Those who are righteous can be forced with benevolence, but not with military force; they can be upright with righteousness, but not with profit. A gentleman will die with righteousness, but cannot retain wealth and honor. Those who are righteous cannot be afraid of death. How much more so for those who do nothing! Those who do nothing are free from burdens. Those who are free from burdens take the world as their shadow, observing the human ethics above, the profound meaning of morality above, and the mundane conduct below. Only then can they be ashamed. Those who cannot act in the world are the drumdrums of learning.
