Zhai Wei, according to the author of Volume 87 of "Yunji Qiqian", titled "Essentials of the Classics of the Immortals of the Qing Dynasty", who self-identified himself as "Zhai Wei, a hermit of Wudang Mountain from Nanyang", it can be known that he was from Nanyang. However, in ancient times, Wudang Mountain and Junzhou were long under the jurisdiction of Nanyang Prefecture, so Zhai Wei might also have been from Junzhou. According to the "Brief History of Taoism in Wudang", his writings are quoted from "Baopuzi", "Wuqi Duanxuan Jing", "Jiuling Shangbao Jing", and "Confucius' Family Sayings", most of which are classics from the Wei and Jin Dynasties. "It is suspected that this book was completed in the Six Dynasties", so it is possible that Zhai Wei was also from the Six Dynasties period. There is no other test. Zhai Wei's "Essentials of the Taiqing Immortal Classics" mainly discusses the study of the five Qi, and the concept of "the unity of heaven and man" is very prominent. This discussion discusses the fasting method and the method of breath control for hermits to purify the five emotions. Finally, in the interpretation of the "Zhou Zhuan", Zhuangzi's thoughts are highly praised and expounded. From this, it can be inferred that he is very likely the orthodox Laozi and Zhuangzi lineage of the early Wudang Daoist School.
