A portrait of Grandma Mo Needle Well

#Taizi Slope ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

Inside the Granny Pavilion, there is a statue of the Purple Qi Yuanjun grinding a needle with an iron rod. The grandmother, transformed from the Purple Qi Yuanjun, has a simple yet vivid appearance, just like an elderly person who has experienced many vicissitudes and is kind and respectable. She turns her head sideways, as if having a conversation with someone, telling an eternal truth that has endured through the ages. The "Zhenwu Benzhuan Miaojing" records the complete story of Zhenwu's cultivation and enlightenment on Wudang Mountain. It is said that Zhenwu was the crown prince of Jingle Kingdom and entered Wudang Mountain to practice Taoism at the age of fifteen. After decades of cultivating the Great Way in the deep mountains and old forests without success, he was disheartened and decided to abandon the Tao and return to the secular world. Here, he met the Purple Qi Yuan Jun who had transformed into an old woman and used an iron rod ground into a needle to enlighten him. This made him understand the truth that "an iron rod can be ground into a needle; with perseverance, success will come naturally." He then returned to the deep mountains to cultivate and eventually achieved enlightenment, being enfeoffed as the "Supreme God of the Xuantian Realm." The beautiful legend of grinding an iron rod into a needle, with its profound philosophy, has endowed it with lasting vitality and has been widely passed down for thousands of years, becoming a unique branch of Wudang culture.
