All the important temples and monasteries on Wudang Mountain are equipped with Dragon and Tiger Halls, where statues of the blue dragon and the white tiger are enshrined to enhance the solemnity of paying homage to Zhenwu. In ancient astrology, the seven constellations in the east were formed into the shape of a dragon, known as the Azure Dragon or the Blue Dragon. In Taoism, it was called "the God of the East", one of the four deities of the east, west, south and north. In the "Sutra of the Divine Mantra for Subduing Demons of the Northern Emperor", it is stated: "The Azure Dragon is the essence of the seven stars of the East that descends to the human world to protect the territory. Within the Qinghua Palace, it transforms into the Dragon King of Xiuji and the Dragon King of Shenlin, who command the Azure treasures and underground treasures, and safeguard the azure robes and official positions of the human world." In traditional Chinese culture, the legendary auspicious object, the blue dragon, has various interpretations: it belongs to Yang in the two energies, to zhen in the Eight Trigrams, to wood in the Five Elements, and protects the soul and governs the liver in the body, etc.
