The Fuzhen Temple, an ancient building located on the 60-degree steep slope of Lion Peak in Wudang Mountain, is highly praised by today's architects as a classic work of building on a steep slope. Fuzhen Temple is backed by Lion Mountain, with the Tianchi Waterfall on its right and the Eighteen Winding plank Road on its left. From a distance, it looks like a lotus emerging from water, and up close, it resembles a magnificent city. Ancient architectural masters ingeniously utilized the mountainous terrain to not only create a land area of 16,000 square meters but also build over 200 halls, structurally creating famous landscapes such as "Four Gates per Mile", "Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall", "Twelve Beams per Column", and "Ten Miles of Osmanthus Fragrance". Fuzhen Temple, also known as Taizi Slope, according to records, in the tenth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di ordered the construction of 29 halls including the Xuan Emperor's palace, the mountain gate, and 廊庑. In the 32nd year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, the number of halls was expanded to over 200. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it was renovated three times successively. From the 20th to the 26th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the main hall, the mountain gate and other buildings were renovated again. Later, due to years of disrepair, it was severely damaged. In 1982 AD, with state investment, a comprehensive renovation of the Fuzhen Temple was carried out, restoring its original historical appearance. It was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at both the provincial and national levels. Taking advantage of the unique terrain of Lion Peak, ancient architectural masters built a wave-like interlaced wall along the mountain's slope, which is known as the Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall. Entering through the second mountain gate, a wide courtyard suddenly comes into view. Strolling in, one can see the small courtyards stacked on top of each other, quiet and elegant. In the front is the "Five Clouds Tower" built along the rock, in the middle are the "Imperial Scripture Hall" and the "Sutra Repository", and at the back is the "Prince Hall" on a high platform. The overall layout is uneven on both sides and staggered at different heights, harmonious and perfect, fully embodying the Taoist thought of "tranquility and non-action". Standing at the highest point of the Fuzhen Temple, one can overlook the deep gullies and the meandering streams, which are clear and green. Looking out over the mountains, thousands of peaks vie with each other in beauty. Every time the sun sets in the west, one can still witness the spectacular sight of the "Taihe Silhouette" of Wudang. For hundreds of years, the humanistic landscapes of the Fuzhen Temple have been widely praised by the world. Today, under the premise of "effective protection" and "strengthened management", the cultural relics department has rationally utilized and established the "Prince's Health Preservation Hall", inheriting and spreading the ancient scientific health preservation culture to achieve the goal of applying the past to the present.
