Sun Lutang, a native of Wan County, Hebei Province, has been passionate about martial arts since childhood. He learned Xingyi Quan from Li Kuiyuan, then from Guo Yunshen, Li's teacher, and finally Bagua Quan from Cheng Tinghua. After years of practice, his skills are profound. Later, he studied Tai Chi under Hao Weizhen, integrating the essence of the three martial arts styles of Bagua, Xingyi and Tai Chi, and fusing them into one to create "Sun-style Tai Chi". The characteristics of Sun-style Tai Chi are: advancing and retreating in unison, following every step, retreating every step. The movements are smooth, round and flexible, agile and natural. During the practice, the feet are clearly distinguishable in terms of strength and weakness. The entire journey is as smooth as flowing water, continuous and unbroken. Each turn is followed by "opening" and "closing", so it is also called "Opening and Closing Dynamic Step Tai Chi".
