The cliff carvings at the entrance of the Thunder God Cave

#Nan Yan ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

The rock carving "Yan Huo Lei Jun, Cang Shui Sheng Dong" is 1.7 meters high and 3.03 meters wide. This work was created in the Jiaxu year of the Yuan Dynasty. Its calligraphy and carving art are both extremely superb. It is said that these characters were written by Qinghe Zhenren. Some people have verified that Qinghe Zhenren was Zhang Shouqing, a famous Taoist priest in Wudang. Zhang Shouqing was from Yichang, Hubei Province. In the Taoist scriptures of the Daozang, he was called "Chongyuan Lei Xia". For over two decades, he painstakingly established the Tianyi Zhenqing Palace in Nan Yan, making significant contributions to the development of Taoism in Wudang.
