Peng Jian, also known as Tai Yi, was a subordinate deity of the Great Emperor Zhenwu, standing beside Zhenwu with a sword in hand. There are many bronze statues of people holding swords remaining on Wudang Mountain, all of which were made by the imperial court during the Ming Dynasty. In ancient times, Taiyi was not only a celestial deity but also an alternative name for the "Tao". There are various explanations, and it holds an important position in Taoist culture. The "Astronomical Great Elephant Rhapsody" states: Taiyi Star is a subject of the Heavenly Emperor. He commands the sixteen dragons, knowing wind and rain, floods and droughts, military campaigns, famines and epidemics. In folk beliefs, he is a great deity who governs wind, rain, water, drought, diseases and plagues. Among those who study and practice the Tao, they believe that "Taiyi" is another name for "Tao" and is the origin of all things in the universe.
