The Golden Summit Lingguan Hall and the Tin Hall

#Golden Summit ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

This palace-style building with a wooden imitation structure, resembling a model, is entirely made of tin metal and is the only tin hall preserved on Wudang Mountain. This tin hall made in the Ming Dynasty, is it because of its rarity that it is precious, or is it to fill the gap in the variety of materials? It's unknown. Historical records show that tin was used in China as early as the Zhou and Qin dynasties. In the Yuan Dynasty, tin-cast movable type printing calligraphy emerged. In the early Ming Dynasty, tin plates were used for printing, but due to poor ink absorption, it failed to be widely promoted. It can be seen from this that the application history of tin is long. It can be said that this tin hall on Wudang Mountain is a witness to the application of tin metal in China in the 15th century. Its smelting and casting technology is very mature, and its artistic design is also worthy of praise.
