The lung belongs to the Western metal and is known as the White Emperor. Its spirit and form resemble a white tiger, and its appearance is like a suspended chime. The lungs are characterized by vigor and vitality, which means that the qi is vigorous and depressed. It weighs three jin and three liang, has six leaves and two ears, totaling eight leaves. Its color is like the red of gauze, located above the five internal organs, facing the chest, as if covering it, thus it is called the Huagai. The lung is the child of the spleen and the mother of the kidney. There are seven spirits under it, like the names of infants: Corpse Dog, Fushi, Sparrow's Shadow, Swallow Thief, Non-Poison, Eliminate Impurity, and Eliminate Stench. These are the seven names. When going to bed at night and at dawn, clench your teeth thirty-six times, call out the names of the lung spirit and the seven spirits to calm the five internal organs. The nose is the palace. To the left is Geng, to the right is Xin. In terms of qi, it is cough; in terms of fluid, it is nasal discharge; and in terms of form, it is the skin and hair. The qi flows upward to the head and downward to the spleen. Since all qi belongs to the lung, the lung is the source of respiration and the palace for transmission. The lung meridian originates from the Shao Shang and is also known as the Po Men. Lying down for a long time harms the qi. When kidney pathogen invades the lungs, there will be excessive nasal discharge. If the lungs are located on the right side, it will cause wheezing and coughing. The large intestine is the residence of the lungs. When the large intestine and the lungs are combined, it is the residence for the transmission of diarrhea and the conduction of the body. The nose is the palace of the lungs. When the lung qi is unobstructed, the nose can detect the smell and odor. The lungs are associated with the skin and nourish the hair. When the skin dries up and the hair falls out, the lungs die first. The lung contains metal. Metal is received by Yin, born in Yi, vigorous in You, ill in Hai, dead in Wu, and buried in Chou. It is autumn, the day is Geng Xin, and the hour is Shen You. Its sound quotient, its color is white, its taste is pungent, and its smell is fishy. When the heart pathogen enters the lungs, it will dislike fishy smell. Its nature and meaning, its emotions and concerns. Outside the lung, it corresponds to the Five Great Mountains and connects to the essence of Taibai. On the King day of autumn, it stores the qi of Taibai into the lung to assist the lung spirit. When there is lung wind, the nose will be blocked. A dull complexion indicates dry lungs. If one has an itchy nose, it indicates that there are worms in the lungs. Those who are often afraid have a spirit higher than their lungs. When the body is blackened, it indicates that the lung qi is weak. Those who are prone to anger have a strong lung. Those who are not cold-resistant have lung fatigue, and when the lungs are exhausted, they tend to sleep more. Those who love spicy food have insufficient lung function. Intestinal rumbling indicates obstruction of lung qi. When the lung pathogen invades itself, it is amusing. Therefore, if a person's complexion is bright and white, it indicates that there is no disease in the lungs. If there is a disease in the lungs, use 呬 to extract it. To 呬 for no reason is ominous. In the third month of autumn, the metal element is strong and indicates death. All things wither and deteriorate. Those who wish to maintain their spirit and form should be benevolent and nurturing, bestowing kindness and keeping a humble demeanor. Yin and Yang are divided into forms, all things are gathered and killed, birds lie down and chickens rise, cutting down grass and trees to follow the autumn qi. When the lungs are strong, pathogenic factors will not invade. If one goes against it, the five internal organs will be well-behaved and various diseases will occur.
