The health preservation techniques of Wudang Taoism originated from Taoism. Taoism emphasizes longevity and the principle of "following the way of nature". It uses the natural way to nourish the natural body. Its essence lies in taking the transformation of the dantian as the core, the smooth flow of qi and blood in the meridians as the goal, and the improvement of the function of the gonadal system as the focus. The sequence of procedures is scientific and reasonable. Through the process of transforming essence into qi and transforming qi into spirit, it aims to achieve the convergence of the three treasures of essence, qi and spirit, and the balance of body, mind and life, thus realizing the purpose of restoring essence and nourishing the brain. Thereby enhancing the vitality of life.
The "Nine Palaces Rotating Twelve Methods" is a simple practice in the cultivation and daily life of Taoists. It has few movements, simple methods, and is easy to learn and practice. The entire set of movements can be practiced individually without being restricted by the occasion or location, or they can be combined into a set for practice, regardless of the duration.
The main movement features of the "Nine Palaces Rotating Twelve Methods" are: there are both upward and downward movements, and they involve the entire body. There is both movement and stillness, and both are cultivated. Inside and outside, form and spirit in unity; There is intention and energy, and the essence and energy flow smoothly.
Its functions include strengthening the heart, nourishing the liver, tonifying the lungs, consolidating the kidneys, benefiting the brain, regulating qi, tempering the nature, and soothing the mood, among others, for health preservation and care. Therefore, long-term practice and nourishment can promote the smooth flow of qi stagnation, the unobstructed flow of blood stasis, the gathering of scattered spirit, and the return of lost essence, thereby achieving the goal of eliminating diseases, strengthening the body, and prolonging life.
