Xuanyue Mountain stands tall and inherits the Taoist lineage, while the immortal Mountain stretches from ancient times to the present. On June 7, 2026, Wudang Mountain, a World Cultural Heritage Site and a renowned Taoist sacred place in China, once again welcomed overseas followers seeking the Tao. Fifty students from the second session of the International Taoist Culture Research Class of the World Taoist Federation, filled with reverence and yearning for Chinese Taoist culture, came to Wudang for the first time to study and seek the Tao. This research and study team brought together Taoist culture enthusiasts from eight countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, France, Switzerland, Slovenia, the United States, and Mexico. The participants, with their original intentions, made a rendezvous with immortals and with devout hearts, explored the mysterious charm, embarking on a profound research and study journey of Wudang Taoist culture that transcends national boundaries and integrates the past and the present.

One object preserves the ages; one museum holds the profound chapter. The first stop of this visit was the Wudang Museum. The trainees successively entered seven theme exhibition halls, namely architectural art, famous figures from Immortal Mountains, Taoist statues, Taoist music in palaces and temples, Wudang martial arts, incense culture, and a brief history of Taoism. The seven exhibition halls are laid out layer by layer and in an orderly manner, presenting the cultural roots, artistic forms and humanistic spirit accumulated over a thousand years of Wudang Taoism in a complete way. From the construction regulations of grand palaces and temples to the benevolent sentiments of the eminent Taoist priests throughout history; From the solemn and dignified statue art to the martial arts spirit that combines strength and grace, it comprehensively and multi-dimensionally interprets the profound and extensive Wudang culture. The trainees visited the exhibition in an immersive way and gained deep insights. In the small exhibition space, they got close to Wudang, understood Wudang and fell in love with Wudang. They deeply appreciated the unique mountain and water charm and cultural layout of Wudang Mountain, which is known as "the unparalleled scenic spot since ancient times and the first immortal mountain in the world".

Refined arts nourish the heart, and intangible cultural heritage connects the past and the present. The Wudang Taoist Culture Research Association, Wudang Yongle Cultural and Creative Industry, and Wudang Museum jointly planned a series of warm-hearted traditional Chinese cultural experience activities, including the elegant charm of the guqin, ancient incense making, and movable type printing. In the museum hall, the sound of the ancient zither was crisp and clear, lingering in the air. The lute player's performance of "Pu 'an Mantra" is solemn and soothing, "Guan Shan Yue" is distant and expansive, "Liang Xiao Yin" is elegant and peaceful, and "Ping Sha Luo Yan" is ethereal and distant. The students sat upright and concentrated, listening quietly to the mysterious music. Amidst the elegant sounds of silk and bamboo, they washed away the noise of the world and calmed their minds, carefully experiencing the unique artistic conception of the coexistence and integration of Eastern music and Taoist philosophy. In the Wudang Culture research studio, more than ten students are concentrating on studying the traditional incense-making techniques. The processes of kneading, rolling, shaping and drying are carried out in an orderly manner with a calm and dedicated mind. Through the slow experience of ancient handcrafting, they get close to the traditional incense art and appreciate the Taoist life interest of purity, non-action and returning to simplicity. The atmosphere in the intangible cultural heritage exhibition area was lively and vibrant. The trainees personally arranged character models, ground ink and made rubbings. In the faint aroma of ink, they touched the thousand-year-old cultural heritage and truly felt the vibrant vitality of traditional skills that transcend time and remain vibrant.

Technology endows ancient charm, and new realms inspire mysterious trends. After leaving the museum, the group of students entered the "Wudang Inquiry" digital living room, where they encountered the deep integration of traditional cultural heritage and modern technology. The six distinctive sections, with light and shadow as the carriers and technology as the support, comprehensively and three-dimensionally present the grandeur of Wudang's mountains and waters, the depth of its moral tradition, and the beauty of its culture. The Light and Shadow Wonderland connects a thousand years of time and space, leading students to immerse themselves in tracing the roots of Wudang's cultural heritage. The Shan Hai Xuan Gong recreates the scene of a crane soaring in the air, offering a panoramic view of the grandeur of the imperial temple and the magnificent mountain and river scenery. The strange and interesting stories are told in a gentle and unhurried way, allowing you to explore and trace, unlocking the thousand-year-old legends of the immortal mountain and the underwater ancient city. Xianyue Qingyin can be played by touching the strings with fingertips and playing rhymes at will, interpreting the ethereal and mysterious beauty of the celestial music of Taoism. Dongtian Fudi delves deeply into the profound essence of health preservation, interpreting the Eastern wisdom of health care that follows the natural way and achieves harmony between man and nature. Tai Chi Fantasy, empowered by AI intelligence, enables students to gradually experience the essence of Wudang Tai Chi, which is the mutual generation of Yin and Yang and the harmonious combination of hardness and softness, through immersive interactive teaching. The integration of the virtual and the real, the connection between the ancient and the modern, and the innovative interpretation of modern audio-visual images have made the profound thousand-year-old Taoist culture visible, perceptible and learnable, presenting all the trainees with a high-quality cultural feast that is rich in heritage and novel in form. ,

Tracing ancient times to seek secluded places, visiting the Tao to reflect on the original aspiration. That afternoon, the trainees of the study class visited the ancient buildings and temples of Wudang Mountain such as Xuanyue Gate, Yuzhen Palace and Yuxu Palace one after another. Wandering among the remains of the thousand-year-old ancient sites, the blue bricks and black tiles bear witness to the vicissitudes of time, while the upturned eaves and brackets conceal the wisdom of creation. Every beam and pillar carries the mysterious atmosphere, and every blade of grass and tree exudes the charm of Taoism. The grand imperial regulations, profound historical heritage, and pure Taoist aura enable the trainees to truly appreciate the noble demeanor of the Wudang Imperial Taoist Temple and deeply understand the inclusive and continuous spiritual core of Taoist culture.

This is the first time that the participants of the International Taoist Culture study Class have collectively come to Wudang Mountain for study and visit. It is not only a cultural encounter separated by mountains and seas, but also a cultural integration of mutual learning and exchange. From the thousand-year-old accumulation of physical relics to the refreshed expression of digital technology; From static cultural displays to vivid intangible cultural heritage experiences, the dialogue between the past and the present, as well as the integration of the Chinese and the foreign, comprehensively showcases the profound historical heritage and vigorous contemporary vitality of Wudang Taoist culture.
The second session of the International Taoist Culture Study Class of the World Taoist Federation was launched at the Wudang Mountain Taoist College on June 2nd. According to the overall arrangement of the training activities, the trainees will further delve into the core scenic area of Wudang Mountain in the future, successively visiting the Golden Summit, Qiongtai Zhongguan, Nan Yan, Zixiao and other sacred temples and shrines, and continuously exploring the profound meanings of the diverse cultures of Wudang Mountain, including its landscapes, martial arts, Taoist music, health preservation and ancient architecture. This cross-sea quest will surely build a solid bridge for the exchange of traditional cultures between China and foreign countries, allowing the profound and brilliant Wudang culture to transcend mountains and seas and spread far and wide, and enabling the outstanding traditional Chinese culture rooted in the Wudang Immortal Mountain to shine with brand-new luster on the world stage.
