The Zixiao Palace co-praises the Zhongtian plaque

2022-08-20 23:32:13

On the lintel of the Zixiao Hall hangs a huge plaque inscribed with the words "Xie Zan Zhong Tian". What exactly is the author of the plaque praising? It's unknown. However, as the name suggests, there should be two interpretations: one is to praise the peak of the imperial temples and shrines on Wudang Mountain during the Ming Dynasty, and the other is to extoll the extraordinary geographical location of Wudang Mountain. The Analects of Confucius states: "Every commandery and every town should correspond to the celestial stars." The ancients said that Wudang Mountain was located at the dividing point of the two stars, Yi and Zhen. That is why the True Wu Emperor was stationed at Wudang, with the beautiful wish of vanquishing demons and monsters and praying for blessings and warding off disasters.
