Wulong Summit, also known as Wulong Peak, is shrouded in mist and clouds for most days of the year, giving people an unfathomable sense of height. According to historical records, during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, there was a severe drought throughout the country. Yao Jian, the governor of Junzhou, came here to pray for rain, and as expected, it rained heavily. Emperor Taizong of Tang thus issued an edict to build the Five Dragons Shrine on Wudang Mountain, thus kicking off the imperial family's construction of temples on Wudang Mountain. The Wulong Shrine was first built in the Tang Dynasty and was constructed on the highest peak in the Wulong area. This is an undeniable fact recorded in historical books. But the Five Dragons Shrine has long been abandoned and its ruins have vanished without a trace. For a long time, people have been conducting research in archaeology, hoping to find a physical object to obtain evidence support. Recently, traces have been found in this regard. A stone tablet and a stone-carved head with a Tang Dynasty hairstyle discovered at Wulongding provide evidence for this historical fact. Although there are no remaining buildings of the Five Dragons Shrine on the top of the Five Dragons Mountain now, it holds a very significant place in the history of Wudang Taoism. It marked the beginning of the royal family's emphasis on Wudang Mountain and laid the foundation for the prosperity of Wudang Taoism.
